Create Joinery’s main activities are the purchase, storage, manufacture and distribution of wood products. These activities result in a variety of significant environmental effects including: the impact of management practices in the forests that provide the products we sell as well as offices and processing facilities; and the industrial and office waste we generate in the course of everyday business.

With the growing public awareness of the environment, environmental issues and its growing importance, and with many customers specifically requesting certified timber, we have made positive moves towards stocking products originating from sustainable and correctly managed forests, and in particular FSC certified products.

In many cases, the forests which provide our wood sustain not only their own complex eco-systems of plants and animals, but also the economy of their local communities. We have a duty of care in both of these respects; the results of our actions can have wide-reaching effects for which we take full responsibility. Understanding the issues and acting accordingly requires a constant flow of information between a variety of organisations such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), local woodland management initiatives such as Coed Cymru and Wood Knowledge Wales.

 Our goal is to minimise our overall environmental footprint. This involves understanding, quantifying and systematically managing the environmental effects of all of our operations so as to avoid, minimise, mitigate or offset their impact. Management of our environmental effects, continual improvement of our environmental performance and compliance with all relevant legislation is achieved through Create Joinery’s ongoing environmental management plan, involving the setting of demanding but achievable objectives and performance targets.
